| Biography Peter Mason was born in Renfrew, Ontario in 1975. Now residing in Toronto, he currently divides his artistic interests between photography and oil painting. Artist's Statement: My abstract paintings are for the most part intuitive works. As I begin I worry little about color or composition. Both will reveal themselves as the work takes shape. The paintings gradually build up surface and weight; their structure being formed by a series of additions and subtractions, of small triumphs and small failures. I seek to find the painting within the paint. I turn the paint over to expose its underbelly, to reveal what a have unknowingly hidden. I do my best to follow whatever instincts I may have to let the materials arrange themselves as they may. |
