| Biography Farhad Nargol-O'Neill
was brought up in Unionville, Ontario. He had a musical father and an
artistic mother and grew up in a very cultured environment. He attended
York University and graduated with a degree in Music (Jazz Performance)
in 1991. At the same time he was working as a sculptor, and eventually
the sculpture supplanted the music. In 1994, he moved to Belfast,
Ireland and set up his sculpture studio which lasted until 2004, when
he returned to Canada. He has been widely commissioned for pieces of
public art on the national and international scene and has also
exhibited internationally. His work can be found in Canada, The USA,
Barbados, Spain, Germany, Ireland, Jordan, Cyprus, and Tunisia. He is a
member of the Sculptors Society of Ireland, the Sculptors Society of
Canada, SAVAC, and the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto. My work draws from
notions of cultural identity, and I use symbols as tools in the
construction of my works - both two and three dimensional. Memory
theory and the importance of symbol and placement is a defining point
in my work. Issues of nationalism are also addressed in my work,
politics, and culture.
